Job Description
- Oversee the completion of custom installation projects by planning, organizing team, and making key decisions
- Manage installers and programming staff to ensure that projects fall within the proposed budget and are completed on time
- Travel between project sites to ensure quality of work is at its highest standards, checking the performance, health, and safety of the team
- Keep abreast of technical understanding of system installations to help with problem-solving and dealing with complex, detailed projects
- Coordinate and work with a variety of different people such as contractors, subcontractors, architects, and suppliers
- Manage project costs and control budgets, ensuring that the project does not go over the proposed costs
- Evaluate data to determine the needs of a project, understand the scope of a project, assess risks, assign tasks, and plan for presentation
Job Requirements
- Know how to make and follow a schedule in a basic computer program so the project is completed to the set deadline
- Like to support and supervise your staff in day-to-day management not only because it’s your job, but because that’s just who you are
- Working with sales, techs, and other staff, be flexible to move in different directions as necessary to deal with post-install or service call issues
- Are smart about resources required for each aspect of the project, such as equipment needed, materials, and labor, assessing each of these for budget limitations
- Able to acquire material and equipment on time and check stock levels regularly to make sure anything that’s running low can be reordered
- Able to assign tasks and give clear orders to installers, communicate complex information and technical details, and ensure that all members of the team are aware of deadlines
- Able to create agendas for meetings and prepare documents, such as schedules and logs
- Can smoothly handle unexpected issues and hold-ups and solve any challenges that arise over the course of a build, such as materials not arriving on time
- Deal with demanding and needy homeowners that want things done now
- Be able to work a negotiable 4 day/10 hr schedule, and occasionally put in extra time during peak season
